Our weekend

This weekend was pretty good :)

On Friday night, I did quite a bit of crafting. It felt great!

On Saturday, Timmy slept in until 9:00 am which was great getting an extra hour of sleep. As soon as he woke up, Tom, Timmy and  I got ready and then hopped in the car. We decided to go to Waterbury, VT which is about 45 minutes away from where we live. We thought that Timothy would take a nap in the car but he ended up staying awake the whole time. We finally arrived at our destination which was the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. I was able to sample lots of different apple butters. They were delicious. We also ate some cider donuts and Tom got some hot apple cider. Cider donuts are so delicious and they are definitely one of my most favorite foods in Vermont. Although we live 45 minutes from the Cider Mill, we are still able to buy their apple cider in our local grocery store which is a big chain store. Although they do make all their cider and apple products there, there were not producing anything when we went there. They did have an informational video that we could watch to learn more about the cider making process. It was pretty interesting. Apparently, they harvest the apples from local farms and then crush them into small pieces. They then lay them on a sheet and put a wooden frame around. They pile up apple stuff on like 20 layers and then they have this machine that squeezes out all the juice out of the apple. With the remaining apple junk, they give it to local farms for the animals to eat.
Once we were done watching the video, we played some checkers and then went outside to take some pictures.

After we went to the Cider Mill, we decided to drive a couple miles down the road to the Cabot Cheese Store. This place was amazing! The reason why it was so great was because it had so many samples to try.  When I went to the store, I never realized that they had so many cheeses to try. They had like 20-25 different cheeses to try which were are all really good. My favorite was probably the Pepper Jack Cheese. Along with trying cheese, we also got to try some popcorn, dips, crackers and some maple butter. While we were there, we also found out that the Cabot Factory was 30 minutes away from Waterbury. We were tempted to go visit there but we will try to go visit there another weekend.

The last place that we went for the day was the Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center and Cafe. The Visitor Center was in this old train station. It was a pretty cool building. They had a bunch of different displays and things to read about coffee. It was pretty interesting. After we read all the stuff, Tom got some coffee but I decided not to. I was a little disappointed that the Visitor Center wasn't giving away any free samples of anything. I mean, Green Mountain Coffee is a pretty big company. I was expecting something like the World of Coke but I was sorely wrong. I guess I forgot for a second that Vermont is a small state so there isn't really any big Visitor Centers or museums or much of anything really. haha

After we left the Green Mountain place, we went back home because Timothy had yet to nap all day. As soon as we got in the car, he fell asleep. Once we got home, we sat in the car with him while he slept so he could get a good nap. We then got ready because we were meeting some friends to go to a silent/live auction. I ended up buying some museums passes to a science museum during the live auction. Overall, it was a pretty fun time for my first time of going to a live/silent auction. I can't wait to use the museum passes over the summer.

diy headboard

I made a headboard recently and I am just now getting around to posting it. Ha.

I have been thinking about making a headboard for quite some time. I was first inspired to make one when my brother and sis in law made one. But, my brother told me it was a pain to make and just to go buy one. So, I looked for a good deal on a craiglist headboard but I never felt like spending the money on one. Ha. One day while I was scouring pinterest, I came across this wonderful tutorial about making a headboard and I thought it was perfectly doable. I kinda followed this tutorial and ended up making my own headboard. I am pretty happy with the results but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Ha.

While I was taking pictures of the bed, Tom and Timothy were playing on the floor in the room :)

Now that I have finished posting about that, I might get around to posting about my crafts this weekend and what we did over the weekend.

Timmy Updates

I haven't written in my blog lately, as you can tell. Hahahahha. I often think about what to write but I never actually get around to it. Today, I thought that I would jot down a few notes and include some pictures. 


Timmy is now 7.5 months old. He is an absolute delight to Tom and I. We are so grateful to have him. This past week, he has started to army crawl on his belly and roll all over the living room. He is even able to go from laying down to sitting up by himself :) He enjoys getting into picture frames, weights, camera tripods, cords, and our glider. haha. We definitely have to keep an eye on him and say "NO" to him. I also like to say "That's not for babies. " I then proceed to move him back to his blanket with all his toys and take him away from whatever trouble he has gotten into. 

About a month ago, Tom and I moved Timothy's mattress down to its lowest setting in the crib. We figured we should prepare early for whenever he decides to attempt to crawl out of it. Just yesterday, I went to pick him up from his nap because he was making noise. I found him sitting in his crib which one arm sticking through the crib slat patting on the top of his diaper genie. Silly boy!


This past month, we had a week of great weather. It was in the 70s or 80s. I spent a lot of time outside reading, going on walks, and visiting the park. Where we live now, we have this great park within walking distance of our place. It has a swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, and much more. Tom and I took Timmy there to go try out the swings. He really enjoyed it! We also sat him on our lap and went down the slide too. 

The good weather didn't last long though. Now, it is back to being in the 30s-40s. We have also had it snow a few times this week but it hasn't stuck to the ground. I can't wait until summer fully arrives :)


I hope to write some more posts soon about my latest and greatest crafts but that is all for now ;)

Happy Valentines Day

Valentines Day has been pretty swell so far. The hubs and I exchanged gifts a week or so in advance of the day. Ha. So today we just exchanged small things. Timmy and I made some homemade cards for daddy :) Timmy got a hug and kiss for Valentines. Maybe next year he will get something more but for right now he has way too MUCH stuff already.

Timmy Rolling Over

Tom and I finally coerced timothy into rolling over and into letting us get a video of it :)

broken hearts and ice cream cones

So I suppose that I will try to blog every once in a while since I did create a blog and everything. Ha!

So here is my random blog for the day/week/month/year.

Last week, Tom, Timothy and I went out to dinner with a co-worker of Tom's who is Chinese. Tom's coworker is vegan so I wasn't exactly sure what to cook nor do I really cook that often. Ha! Tom and I decided our best bet was to go out to eat and let his coworker choose where to go. He chose to go to a Chinese restaurant which neither Tom nor I have ever been to.

For starters, I do not really like Chinese food but I was trying to be nice. Before we went, I tried to remain hopeful about finding something that I liked. But once we got there and I got my food, I lost ALL hope for good food. haha! I ordered some chicken and broccoli dish but the food was totally different that what I had expected. The broccoli was good but I didn't dare touch the chicken. I don't think I will be going there again. ha! Other than the food, the dinner was great. Tom's coworker was really nice and we had a lot of fun. Also, Timothy behaved pretty well.

After dinner, I asked Tom if we could run to the grocery store so I could get some ice cream and ice cream cones to reward myself for attempting to eat Chinese food. I picked one of my favorite flavors, Rocky Road ice cream. yum!

As soon as I got home, I quickly opened this box to get a ice cream cone out

This is what I found after I had taken a few cones out. ha!

The picture makes it look better than it seems but every single cone was pretty broken! So I just ended up filling a bowl with ice cream and broken cones. But not before, I made some sad faces.

Although I was sad, Timothy took it really hard.

My poor boy. Broken ice cream cones are a tragedy. But I hope he recovers from this loss.
